The script converts .xml files from timelines containing multiple different scene-detected videos. In other words: scene-detect all your desired footage in Resolve, put it all on one timeline, export .xml, convert, and import into Premiere Pro!

WHY WOULD YOU NEED THIS?

After doing scene detection in Da Vinci Resolve, exporting an .xml of the timeline on which all the clips from the mediapool are added will result in a faulty .xml when imported into Premiere Pro. All the clips will start from timecode 00:00:00:00 effectively rendering it useless.

While one option is to export all the individual clips in Resolve, this effectively results in a duplication of the footage. Ideally one would want to use the .xml in combination with the original scene-detected file. This script "fixes" the .xml exported by Resolve so that it does import correctly into Premiere.

To run the script you need to have Python3 installed on your machine. You can download Python3 here: https://www.python.org/

To run the script, open a terminal window / cmd / powershell and navigate to the folder where you put the script.

Type:

( on windows): python r2p.py -f /your/xml/file/location/file.xml

(on OS X): python3 r2p.py -f /your/xml/file/location/file.xml

The easiest way to do this by far is to drag and drop the .py script and .xml:

I either Terminal or Powershell, type : python (or python3 on os x), drag the script into the terminal/powershell window, then type '-f' and drag the .xml into the terminal/powershell window. Press enter. Done. A typical command would look something like this:

python3 /Users/autofasurer/Downloads/r2p/r2p.py -f /Users/autofasurer/Downloads/Resolve2Premiere.xml
